Celebrating Black History Through Literature and Work
Staff Report / pittlocal.org
This year, the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is placing a spotlight on the connections between work and the collective experiences of Black people as part of its Black History Month observance. According to the library’s Pittsburgh PAinPittsburghPA report, the theme focuses on how work in its various forms is intertwined with Black history, culture, and identity.
To celebrate, the library has curated a special collection of books tailored for middle-grade readers. These selections aim to honor and highlight the contributions and stories of Black individuals, reflecting their heritage, present achievements, and the promise of future endeavors.
This initiative underscores the importance of literature in exploring and understanding the many aspects of Black history and culture, particularly for young readers. The library encourages those in the community to explore these books and engage with the resources available in celebration of Black History Month.
