**New Social Work Intern Joins Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh to Support Patrons**

The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP) has welcomed Betty as its new social work intern at the CLP - Main location. Betty is in her final year of the Bachelor of Arts in Social Work program at the University of Pittsburgh. Through her internship, Betty is working to connect library patrons with important resources and services available throughout Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.

During her time at CLP, Betty has been helping patrons with tasks such as applying for jobs, finding housing services and shelters, and locating education resources. Her work aims to bridge resource gaps and offer support to individuals in need.

Betty shared that a significant motivator for choosing this internship is her desire to explore different populations she could work with in her future career as a social worker. She was drawn to the library space for its role as a community hub where people from diverse backgrounds come together. Through this experience, Betty hopes to identify her passions within social work by engaging with a wide variety of individuals and their needs.

Her dedication exemplifies the growing role of social workers in libraries, ensuring that public spaces like the CLP also serve as access points for critical social support.
