Conroy Education Center Athletes Win Special Olympics Championship
Staff Report / pittlocal.org
The athletes from Conroy Education Center participated in the Special Olympics, recently showcasing their skills and teamwork. After performing strongly at a regional event at Slippery Rock University, the team advanced to the state-level Fall Fest tournament held at Villanova.
Despite facing a setback with the loss of a key player due to injury just a week before the tournament, team captains John Oaks and Dayshaun Watkins led the team to a resounding victory. The Conroy Blue Jays defeated their opponents with a score of 55-6 in the championship game, which was dedicated to Coach Alvis’ mother.
The team returned home as champions with gold medals and a strong sense of community pride.
